Annette Louise Alvidres Grable
I made bulletproof coffee almost exactly as directed in http://www.bulletproofexec.com/how-to-make-your-coffee-bulletproof-and-your-morning-too/ Very delicious and as expected super filling. Left me not hungry till afternoon. Here's my comment/question. I've read on some sites that bulletproof coffee is fine as a breakfast or meal substitute though it causes a mild kitogenic (sp?) state. It's certainly a tasty fast alternative to meal prep if time is tight but I wonder if it is a good idea. It doesn't seem like it fits the Whole30 template. And understanding the template--well maybe I've answered my own question. Thanks! Annette
dukunbayi
You have answered your own question, Annette :-) For the purpose of the W30, have your protein and veggies, and then enjoy your bulletproof coffee.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted April 22, 2013 Moderators Share Posted April 22, 2013 Nothing about bulletproof coffee measures up to the Meal Template guidelines for Whole30 eating: http://whole9life.com/book/ISWF-Meal-Planning-Template.pdf We want every meal to include protein, fat, and veggies. Caffeine and fat just are not good enough to make bulletproof coffee a meal. I consider bulletproof coffee a less than ideal snack because it makes hunger go away, but does not provide substantial nutrition. That said, back when I was experimenting with intermittent fasting, I added coconut oil to herbal tea to make bulletproof Wild Sweet Orange tea and drank it mid-morning when I was not eating until 12 or 1. I liked it and it made going for 16-18 hours without food easy. Note: I was not happy with my experiment with IF. I gained weight and my sleep quality degraded, so I started eating breakfast again. Susan W
The bulletproof website promotes it as a breakfast but that is not connected to W30. I like to sip on it during breakfast but it would fill me up if I drank it alone.
