  1. Holy moly Nadia. You got that many bottles from one batch? I only got 5 from 2 1.3/4 QT 1.5 LTRS I saved 2 cups from one and 1 cup from the other as starters for my next batches. How many containers do you have going?
  2. Back to say one thing..new thing with my Numi Chocolate Puerh..iced. Shaken with coconut milk. About to have my second one. Derval, you must try a glass out in the garden.
  3. Susan, I add the tea to my second ferment. I have swing top bottles and just dangle the bag right in there. It's really delicious, I noticed on another thread that you were a fan of it as well, a must try! I brew my 1F with Assam or sometimes even Lipton. In the beginning I was combining black and green teas but wasn't a fan of the final flavor. I only add other teas or flavorings to the 2F. ######################### I am so excited. Good idea to dangle the bags. I use Assam to do my first brew too. By the way..how were the baby octopi?
  4. I boil tap water. I have brita, but it's a small filter, so it will take forever to clear 2 gallons. Lizzard, hey there. Plus one expert more, so we can pick your brains now. Proportions please Nadia do you think Lizzard means flavor the second ferment with the herbal teas. As in just sprinkle loose tea into the bottle and stick it on the shelf? Dying to flavor with my Chocolate Puerh, but Robin suggested not do the first brew with it because it has things like orange peel. I may experiment with one of my now many baby SCOBYs.
  5. Derval, it does look fizzy already. I think you can stick it in the fridge anytime. No need for second ferment.
  6. Derval great photos. Love the look on Lily's face. Booch lover in the making. Mineral is different than distilled. Mineral actually has salts and minerals in it. I use tap water that I run through my brita. Oregon has fairly good water. I also heard from Kombucha Kamp that you can use tap water but you should boil it first or let it sit overnight.
  7. Lizzard, I really want to use my chocolate pureh. Are you talking about the second ferment or do you actually brew your first ferment with it?
  8. Hmmm...did you not add sweet tea? The scoby can't grow without sweet tea to eat. The basic grow your own SCOBY is one bottle plain (not flavored) kombucha with one cup of sweet tea added.
  9. Lol...I love it when I answer a question on this site and find myself going full circle equaling no answer. I'll try grated and one grated with a little apple juice concentrate or honey.
  10. Moluv, do you think beets have enough sugar in them for a fizzy second fermentation?
  11. Nadia, I am going to bottle my two new batches today. I am going to bottle some plain. I'm making a beet salad for dinner on Tuesday so since I am buying beets..I think I will go with beets and thyme. Or beets and mint? Beets and ginger? I'm kind of over the fruit thing.
  12. I have to say that the first batch is so hard to know when its ready. In fact, it takes some time and batches to really nail it. I still struggle with that. Derval because you have the heating pad of some sort (right?), chances are its darn close.
  13. Cheers Susan! I guess I'm worried I'll end up with this paper thin pancake baby which will disintegrate when it's time to bottle and I have to move it! Have to have faith ************************** I remember the feeling. Once they form a film like that they thicken up fairly fast. I think it will be fine to move by the time your booch is ready.
  14. Praxis just sip and go slowly. It's not typically something that would make it worse but some people who aren't used to it have to start slowly. I don't know if you are new to it or a seasoned booch guzzler.
  15. The babies always form at the top. They need oxygen and I think it also has to do with happy gasses that rise to the top. It will form a thicker and thicker circle. It's Frank's baby. :0)

  21. Back to KB. All looks yeasty and well. You seriously don't want to rush it. My babies are college age way too young. Keep them young. :0)
  22. The cup is for my beautiful daughter's 28th birthday. My my that makes me feel old but still..the places I'll go. :0)
