Confusion around ISWF cookbook

I am on Day 4. I got the cookbook "It Starts With Food...Delicious Recipes For Those Starting The Whole 30 Program" and and confused. The first recipe is for almond flour hotcakes and many of the recipes use cheeses, sour cream,etc. I read somewhere that using almond flour for pancakes was out of context and I thought dairy was a no-no. Help! Are all the recipes in the book compliant?
