busymommy
I always thought cinnamon was good for you but I thought I read somewhere on here not to have it but now of course I can't find that again. can we have cinnamon or does that make us want sugar? jent103
Cinnamon is totally fine in otherwise compliant foods. If it starts to make you crave sugar, it might be smart to back off, but as a spice it's a-OK.
amberino21
It depends what you're doing with the cinnamon - if it's part of a concoction that is dessert like then it would be a no go.
Bet
I put cinnamon in my breakfast fritters. It is good for you.
Vian
What most grocery stores sell as cinnamon does not actually have any health benefits. You have to get the real deal, which is called Ceylon Cinnamon, to get the health benefits. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamon
busymommy
oops, guess I have never purchased the real deal I use it on sweet potatoes/yams with sea salt. is that ok or I suppose we aren't suppose to use sea salt?

Sounds like something you'd have with a meal as your vegies - go for it! Sea salt is great too normal table salt often has sugar added and this is not compliant... Vian
Common cinnamon still tastes good on things, and is still compliant with whole30, it just doesn't have the same health benefits that ceylon cinnamon does.
SarahEM
cinnamon + cumin + coconut milk + raisins + diced onions + chicken strips = amazing party in your mouth. Thank God we can have cinnamon!!!
Ericka_M
Would cinnamon oil be okay to use? I purchased some tonight at Whole Foods thinking it would perk up my coffee, but I tasted it and it is sweet, which normally is a good thing, but don't want to blow my whole 30! I purchased some tonight at Whole Foods thinking it would perk up my coffee, but I tasted it and it is sweet, which normally is a good thing, but don't want to blow my whole 30! Check the label. If it is just cinnamon with a compliant oil, then you are good to go. If the oil is not approved (rice bran oil or soybean oil, etc.) or if it has sugar, then set it aside until your whole30 is done.
