laurenislost
Company is catering lunch for Friday and it is provided by Austin's County Line BBQ. The sauce is an obvious no, because most of the time it at least contains brown sugar, but I was iffy on what the meat had on it. A lot of the time these rubs will have non-compliant ingredients, too: http://www.countyline.com/Lake_menu.html I guess I could call them to confirm, but I thought I would peek in here to see if anyone has had any Whole 30 eating experience with them. It does say that their meats are gluten-free but it doesn't mention the other ingredients (SUGAR!!) that are forbidden. I have a feeling that I am not going to like the answer I recieve. Physibeth
Your best bet is to call the company with the list of things you are avoiding and see what they say.
CAK911
I'd call. Brisket is probably the least risky, because a lot of brisket rubs are basically salt and pepper, but it's really, really hard to know case by case.
Delaine Ross
All BBQ restaurants I have spoken with have used sugar as a rub in their meats. Definitely call ahead.
laurenislost
Yeah, I did end up calling, they said they don't use any gluten, dairy or soy. I forget if I asked speficially about sugar, though. I think I will be okay, I did mention the sugar thing for the BBQ sauce, and of course that does include it. rbonde
Whenever I've had County Line BBQ, the crust on the brisket does taste a bit sweet. I wonder if you can eat the turkey instead?
superm1
Sorry to bump up such an old thread, but what were your eventual conclusions (or someone else who has gone)?
laura_juggles
It's entirely possible that recipes have changed in 3 and a half years, so you should call and ask yourself to be sure.
