Lemony
The ingredient I am worried about is 1.5 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa ? Is this ok?

tleef73
I love the chocolate chili over a bed of lettuce with some homemade salsa and guacamole or just sliced avocado! it's like a taco salad without all the unhealthy stuff! Delicious...and I always make a double batch of this and freeze some down for a quick meal.

drtracyb
Does anyone make this in the crock pot? Do you saute veggies and meat first and then move into the crock pot?
Lemony
I Havn't tried that but I should !! And no I would always brown the meat first in a pan but would put the veg in uncooked. Let me know how it turns out .
Khhdesign
I make mine in the crockpot. I just out everything in there raw, stir it up and let it cook on low all day. Yum!
BillS
I made mine in a crock pot, though I did sauté everything first. That's probably not necessary, but I only had 4 hours for it to cook, not all day. It turned out great! I added two diced Serrano peppers for a little heat, and would likely add more or something hotter next time. But, I like spicy foods. Enjoy! praxisproject
I am crushed, I was all set to make it and I'm out of cumin! (this never happens) the sneaky bag in the cupboard is actually ground coriander! disaster lol
Tina R
I am not a fan, the chocolate was a huge mistake. I had to throw out the rest because it was so bad. You might want to add the chocolate to just a small portion to make sure you like it. I haven't made it again, I assume because my first experience wasn't a good one. I find with well fed recipes I either love them or hate them. Good luck.
