Less than 5% of dieters can keep the weight off and that number who can keep off weight, is only 2% higher among weight loss surgery patients...that is less than 7% of weight loss surgery patients can keep off all of their weight for any amount of time.

Dieting Detox.

If you're doing another round of repeat dieting, doing it exactly in the manner in which you did it last time and hoping for different results...

Rebound will be found.  Again.

Flip the Switch.

Less than 5% of all dieters can keep the weight off.

You don't want to be in that number again.  There's a big difference between campaigning and actually governoring... yourself.

Belly selfies. Have they changed everything for you then?

What if the belly is right back out there again a few months down the road.

People who've always known weight stability don't take belly selfies and plaster them on their fridge, FB, their car visor, on the bathroom mirror, everywhere you look.

They don't take Befores and Afters.

They only live in the Now.

Change happens from the bottom UP.  We are the things we keep telling ourselves.

I want to be in that number who doesn't measure their self-worth by belly selfie measurements.

If the weight stable aren't doing it, then I'm not going to do it either.

Are belly selfies healthy? The blowback of belly selfies is a crushed spirit when the measurements start going in the wrong direction.

Go Back To The Future.

Do everything in reverse of how you've always done it with limited results.

Open. Mind. Insert. Possibilities.

Forget belly selfies and measurements and the beginning weight.

Work backwards.  You're somewhere in the future and you look exactly like what you always thought you would look like.

See that.  Don't keep looking back at the old you.

The old you wants you back.  The fat wants you back...that's a chemical fact.  Throw all of your Befores away especially if you're looking into a mirror with a toilet in the background.

Not your best look.  Flush the belly selfies and Befores down the toilet.  Reach towards the future.  Don't tell yourself what you weigh.

Your body and mind will eventually catch UP with your spirit and motivation.  They have to get in line with what  you want and when they do, look out, you're running on all cylinders with full horsepower.  The spark plugs are firing.

When you task those yayhoos, body and mind with something positive...they'll get on board to reach the goal in unimagined ways.  They're not limited by old stinkin' thinkin'.

They're not limited by anyone else's thinking.  There's a pathway to your healing.  It might be filled with detours, nitwittery, songs, dancing, hiking, deep thoughts, sugary sharky waters and prayers but own it.

Own all of it.  Food addiction/disorder, the whole ball of wax.

When all is said and done, you followed your own arrow. With a whopping boatload of  help and tears through the laughter.

Move forward. Look forward. You don't ever have to think about your former belly measurements or the number on the scale that marshed every mellow and kept you stuck in a deep rut - hiding from celebrations, rodeos, parades, parties, connection and support.

7. Don’t be a slob.

This may sound like the exact opposite of what I just said but loving your body does not mean you let yourself go, neglect your hygiene or wear unflattering clothes. Teenage girls seem to struggle with getting that balance right and I frequently feel the urge to mention to some girls that red lipstick and greasy unwashed hair is not an attractive combination. Being able to walk into a room full of strangers with your head held up high requires a high degree of self-respect. Sure, we all have bad days when you would rather slouch in the corner and become completely invisible, but these are the days when you gotta pull out the old “fake it till you make it”. Dreading the necessary socialising at a party? Put on your most comfortable piece of clothing (not your onesie), pull your shoulders back, lift your chin up, and walk in with a lion tamer’s confidence.

These words made me start caring about myself on the first part of the journey.

I imagined that the founders were watching me. :D  I used my imagination, you bet I did.

I thought about them watching me leave the house looking like something the cat dragged in.  So I spruced myself UP when I left the house.  It starts with food and I started here.

Much love. Felicias.

I can only imagine that you're really out there.

Culture is just another fancy name for your Maw's homecooking.

We all have culture and traditions. In my culture, talking to the Universe is permitted, accepted and normal.

We say that milling around and shooting the breeze with the Universe is connection and a good support system. Good medicine.

We also say that blathering and foaming at the mouth about all of your goals is strychnine.

There are movers and shakers.  Action Jacksons.

There are blatherers and foamers.  Ima gonna do this and Ima gonna do that.

And every day that goes by -  the ground  gets colder. Years down the road they're still blathering and it all goes up in smoke. Nothing but a vapor.

It's not bragging if it's true.  We've known this for 1000's of years.

It is strychnine to keep letting the air out of your windbag.

For everything there is a season and a time.  I time to blather and foam at the mouth and a time to just shut the hail UP already.

Body. Mind. Spirit.

Body and Mind = Yayhoos

Spirit = far greater and smarter than those other two.

Do you know what the real glass ceiling is?  It's your body and mind.

The spirit doesn't have a glass ceiling.  The sky is not the limit and it never was.

Your body and mind are two of the biggest roadblocks to breaking through the other side of anything that you want to do.

For the love of Pete, quit telling everyone what you're going to do and MOVE.   Do it.

Don't tell us.  Show us.

Show us how it's done!

The body and mind are in cahoots with one another.  Don't let the left hand know what the right hand is doing.

You've got to get yourself free from the chains that bind you. Those two yayhoos have been calling all of the shots and you know what happens to sports-betting junkies.  They lose it all.

Everything.

Don't shout me down while Ima preachin' good (from the TV).

If you keep making big elaborate announcements about what you're going to do....your body and mind actually believe that you've already accomplished it and met your goals.

Houston, that's like continuing to fumble on the one-yard line just before halftime.

Always reaching for the carrot and never getting there.

Shut the hail UP already.  Don't tell those yayhoos everything you're doing.  Those two would  prefer to lay around a hovel and throw beer cans at the TV all day long.

Keeping letting the air of your windbag and eventually you'll be back sitting back down on the curb feeling lower than a dime.  That's so low that if you tried to swing your feet there'd still  be enough room left over.

Go ahead. Give yourself permission to blather and foam at the mouth.

Underneath it all, you are swimming like a duck.  Cool as a cucumber as you glide across the lake but paddling like hail underneath the water.  Only those two yayhoos know what you're really going through.

Guess what.  They don't give two hoots if you make it there or not. They really do not care.  But the real you,  your innermost being cares.  I care. We are bent on survival.

The yayhoos don't care if you do anything but lay around heaven all day long and spin your wheels. It's just the hard cold truth.

The movers and shakers.  Ima talkin' about you.  All of us are movers and shakers but a broken spirit has stopped you short of entering through the gates.

We know when someone has a broken spirit.  They're limited by their thinking and body.  They have not moved beyond into their spirit.  Maybe they've deliberately made a choice and decision to discount everything their spirit has been trying to tell them since the day they were born.  Very, very sad.

Just like Al says, there is no prosthetic for an amputated spirit.

Get back in touch with your spirit.  Answers. Answers. Answers.

There are food resets and body resets and brain resets but the spirit is the one that's going to carry you all of the way through to the other side of everything.

Don't tell the world what you're gonna do.   Show us what you've got!

A windbag that continually blows smoke seldom sees results. You can talk and share and blather about everything but inwardly keep your strongest desires to yourself.

That way the yayhoos cannot get in your way.  One day, you'll breakthrough and you can tell the other two who's really in charge.  You've always been in charge.

It's not bragging if it's true.

Body. Mind. Spirit.

The body and mind are stuck in a big rut without the spirit.  In a constant loop of massive rationalization and excuses for everything. Pointing fingers at others and/or the addictive quality of trigger foods or you name it.

The bottomline.  What does it profit a Felicia if you have everything but have no connection with your spirit.

The body and mind will mindlessly run around in circles on the dreadmill.

The spirit wants to ring the Liberty Bell.  Let freedom ring.

Your spirit has unprecedented favor.  It knows the pathway to your healing.

You can tell when someone really has hit their glass ceiling. Their words reflect that.   It's all about the physical.  Let's get physical, physical but that's the end of it.  It's the smoke signal in the skillet.

The handwriting on the wall.  The windbag beneath their wings.

It you're just blowing smoke.  Don't come near my house.

Your smoke can burn your house down.  Your motivation.

Letting the wind out of your sails and everyone else's sails.  We just don't have enough time for a thorough vetting process.

Go outside today and blow off the stinkin' thinkin'.

The Universe will not allow any person or circumstance to keep you from your destiny.

They may be bigger and stronger and more powerful but the Universe knows how to get you where you are supposed to be.

We. Are. Family. Felicias.

We are.  We may fuss and cuss and carry on but in the end we are family, you know who you are.

Much love. Felicias.  Much love.

Wait for Keith up there.  He'll blow your bangs back and your toasty socks right off your feet.  Wait for it.

It is sooo worth it.

And I just want to say that I love all'y'alls.

Hang onto your sweet potatoes.

They say you should drop everything and find a woman who dances. Stanford University says dancing increases your mental awareness.

This applies to people of all ages and it's never too late to start sashaying patpat dance crazy rabbit or twerking. When you're doing a dance routine, you're thinking about several things at once.

Stanford says "The essence of intelligence is making decisions."

As far as boosting your intellectual awareness is concerned, it is advised to get involved in an activity that requires quick decision-making. Dancing does just that. Dancers are intellectual kinds of people.

"Dancing makes people feel good… in more ways than one. When people dance, they experience a mood boost. A study in the Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine focused on teen girls dealing with stress. They enrolled in weekly dance lessons, and this impacted their mental health in an extremely positive way. It made them happier. The lead study author revealed, According to these results, despite problems such as stress and other potential challenges in being an adolescent girl, dance can result in high adherence and a positive experience for the participants. Dancers bring positive vibes to the table, and your relationships will flourish."

Overall, relationships with those who dance will only make your life better and science proves it.

Drop it like it's hot and start dancing. happy dancing crazy rabbit

Singing changes your brain.

"When you sing, musical vibrations move through you, altering your physical and emotional landscape. Group singing, for those who have done it, is the most exhilarating and transformative of all. It takes something incredibly intimate, a sound that begins inside you, shares it with a roomful of people and it comes back as something even more thrilling: harmony. So it’s not surprising that group singing is on the rise. According to Chorus America, 32.5 million adults sing in choirs, up by almost 10 million over the past six years.

As the popularity of group singing grows, science has been hard at work trying to explain why it has such a calming yet energizing effect on people. What researchers are beginning to discover is that singing is like an infusion of the perfect tranquilizer, the kind that both soothes your nerves and elevates your spirits.

The elation may come from endorphins, a hormone released by singing, which is associated with feelings of pleasure.  Or it might be from oxytocin, another hormone released during singing, which has been found to alleviate anxiety and stress. Oxytocin also enhances feelings of trust and bonding, which may explain why still more studies have found that singing lessens feelings of depression and loneliness.  A very recent study even attempts to make the case that “music evolved as a tool of social living,” and that the pleasure that comes from singing together is our evolutionary reward for coming together cooperatively, instead of hiding alone, every cave-dweller for him or herself.

The benefits of singing regularly seem to be cumulative. In one study, singers were found to have lower levels of cortisol, indicating lower stress.  A very preliminary investigation suggesting that our heart rates may sync up during group singing could also explain why singing together sometimes feels like a guided group meditation.  Study after study has found that singing relieves anxiety and contributes to quality of life. Dr. Julene K. Johnson, a researcher who has focused on older singers, recently began a five year study to examine group singing as an affordable method to improve the health and well-being of older adults.

It turns out you don’t even have to be a good singer to reap the rewards.  Group singing “can produce satisfying and therapeutic sensations even when the sound produced by the vocal instrument is of mediocre quality.”

Group singing is cheaper than therapy, healthier than drinking, and certainly more fun than working out.  It is the one thing in life where feeling better is pretty much guaranteed.  Even if you walked into rehearsal exhausted and depressed, by the end of the night you’ll walk out high as a kite on endorphins and good will."

Singing = Brain change

Dancing = Decisions

Do you play your favorite songs over and over again. That's normal.

Kids and adults like that rush of endorphins.

Your favorite songs are increasing memory and motor functions in your brain.

Music increases connection to others. It is good medicine.

Hi-larious that we're able to remember all of the lyrics to our favorite songs but can't remember what we ate 3 or 30 days ago.

I have a question.  It's something that's in the back of my mind.

I've wanted to know the answer for a really, really long time.

I can't find the answer on the forum.

We speak and offer advice from our own bias and personal relationship with food. That's human nature.

For newbies, tender sprouts, additional tweaking is needed to alleviate gut problems and other issues.

For all others, who do not have any digestive issues with nuts or fruits, or coconut products or any other compliant item....

When does the tweaking become the new norm that is passed along to everyone without confusing those who do not have one single food allergy or digestive upset or immune problem with almost every food allowed.

Where does our personal bias take over others choices rather than allowing others to eat everything on the shopping list and what's allowable in the book.

Where does personal bias take over and become new norms rather than encouraging everyone to eat as much of a variety as budgets can afford.

A narrow way of eating can become disorder but not only that can setup more immune system/gut issues with food.

Change your gut and you can change your life.  Literally.

Eating what we've always eaten quite often keeps the gut issues from progressing into healing.

At what point does our personal bias become the new rule or add further limitations into someone's life.

We plant seeds with our personal bias, that's human nature.

For those without medical issues or food addiction, how do we encourage them without planting seeds that fruit is worthless, nuts are bad and you get my drift.

Tiger Blood.  It's in the book.  Fruit, nuts, black coffee and even bars are allowed.

How do we not encourage a narrower way of eating for the food disordered while striking that balance with tweaking for gut issues.

I would love to know how the creators maintain their balance with every food including the fruit, nuts, bars and every food that's allowable in ISWF....for the rest of us who do not have food allergies or sensitivities. For those of us who want gut healing in every area possible.  Mentally, physically and emotionally for the rest of our lives.

As a rabid dieter, I would not allow myself to eat fruit or nuts but I was wild with sugar sugars, HFCS, upside down sugars.

Real fruit actually tasted sour because I was so jacked UP on sugar. Apples were tart and oranges were sour.

Fruit has digestive enzymes that I need and fiber, too. Gummy bears do not have these elements and I lived on those.

Avoiding fruit and raw nuts was out but gummy bears were in.

I've changed all of that thinking.  I eat everything but those sugars. Berries in balsamic reductions, added to recipes, pomegranate, oranges, lemons, limes, grapefruits and raw nuts thrown into dishes, too.

I make omelettes with fresh fruit because they're tasty and really add to my satiety. I eat whole foods, stick to the outside perimeter of the grocery store and I no longer have T2.

This has been a winning strategy for me.  I am no longer a binge eater, living for the binge.

Giving myself permission to eat everything on the ISWF shopping list was fun and new for me. I'm no longer thrill eating and I try everything, including offal.  I make bone broth and almost everything from scratch.

But I cannot go back to a narrow way of eating. I can't think that way because when you start planting seeds of over-restriction or dieting, that ruined my life and the way I thought about everything.

I'm coming out of the other side of dieting. I can't go back to that. I want to tell everyone, let freedom ring. Eat everything in the book in the way it was originally written and created.  Create your own positive food management plan that will take you waaaay into the future.

Shawshank it.  Ring the Liberty Bell.

Be free, free, free at last.

Much Love. Felicias.  Much Love.

I'm freeeee, free-fallin' but not falling back into my old food addiction.

How do we help others not develop a narrow way of eating and fall into a food addiction.  I'll answer my own question.

We encourage them to eat the widest variety of whole foods without limitations. Learn the difference between satiety and satiation.

Encourage them to read the chapter, Your Brain On Food in ISWF.
