HeidiPH
Everything in the ingredients is Whole30 compliant. However one ingredient stands out. Organic Caramel Color. Does this make it non-compliant? It also lists Natural Flavors with Yeast Extract. I read this is ok. Correct? THANKS! Finishing up my first Day 7! GFChris
Caramel color makes this a no no for a Whole30: sorry.
HeidiPH
I was hopeful. Other than making my own are there ANY brands out there that are compliant for Beef Broth? THANKS
GFChris
We are hesitant to recommend specific brands here, as ingredients can change and vary by region. Your best bet, other than making your own: meticulously read labels.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted November 17, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 17, 2014 I have found compliant beef broth in the past... several different brands. One of them was Imagine. That is part of why we can't recommend brands. Four years ago, at least one of the Imagine beef broths was Whole30-compliant. And one may be now. For reasons I don't understand, they have nearly a dozen different varieties and I remember finding a chicken and a beef that was compliant. snoodess
The only one I was able to find was Health Valley. Obviously check the label again to be sure if you see it in the store. There's a mushroom broth in a tetrapak like Imagine that is just water, mushrooms, garlic, and salt. Can't remember the brand. I wound up using that as a beef broth replacement. Similar flavor profile and worked well in things like chili and spiced soups
HeidiPH
Thank you. This helps. I will look some more. So far Whole Foods and Trader Joe's were a strike out.
ABS32013
FWIW - I usually end up using chicken broth or stock when a recipe calls for beef broth. If the boldness factor needs to be bumped up, I sometimes add a dash of balsamic vinegar.
EmayPA
I'd probably sub in some of the new Pacific Turkey Bone Broth (the plain one).
HeidiPH
I ended up ordering from Health Valley. These recommendations are very helpful as well. Thanks everyone!
