RoryO
Is there a portion of the Whole 30 where food just becomes boring as heck? This is my second Whole 30 and I think it happened last time. I'm sick of the selection of food. I typically love eggs, but I'm sick of eggs every morning. I'm not even really hungry in the morning for breakfast. Last few days I just want something simple, like toast and butter. It's not even a craving I just am not hungry for all this freaking food. And dinner last night I put together so my family could eat. But I was like, meh. I'm sick of meat and chicken and fish. And squash/sweet potatoes. I feel like skipping meals is preferable. I know it's only 30 days, but I'm just disenchanted with food these days.
Jenn1270
I have become bored of food in the past, when i've repeated things too frequently. Doing the cook-ups on Sunday really seems to help me keep things from getting bored/stale. I use The Clothes Make the Girl's approach and cook a bunch of things on Sunday- I'm sure you've seen that though...but just in case http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/2014/12/28/whole30-resources-roundup-2/
kirkor
It helps me sometimes to browse recipe sites and get inspired, and even simply *reminded* of all the variety that's possible: http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/recipes-index/ http://nomnompaleo.com/post/42057515329/the-round-up-30-days-of-whole30-recipes http://stupideasypaleo.com/recipe-index/ (Whole30 recipes are tagged) Some guy's galleries: http://imgur.com/a/3xVAT/all http://imgur.com/a/cVSqP/all http://imgur.com/a/07GUz/all (he's keto so there'll be some cheese used)
RoryO
I guess I feel like there has been a good deal of "variety" in flavors. But not in ingredients. The basics remain the same. meat/veg. can't really go anywhere and have someone else cook cause everyone uses bad oils.
RoryO
I made indian food the other day and salmon the day before that and roast chicken yesterday. so it's not the same stuff daily.
kirkor
The basics remain the same. meat/veg. Think about it this way -- the "old" way of eating is always the same ingredients as well: flour & sugar.
RoryO
I think I'm a cheese/flour person. Although I know flour turns to sugar, I don't particularly have a sweet tooth. I haven't craved sweets once.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted January 15, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 15, 2015 Make Well Fed cookbook recipe Velvety Butternut Squash and serve it alongside any meat. You will not regret it! Do you have a good Whole30-ish cookbook? I highly recommend Well Fed, Nom Nom Paleo Food for Humans or iPad app and Well Fed 2. Most recipes in them are Whole30 compliant. You need a little help thinking up new recipes. You will not be bored for long. Everything under the sun is in those cookbooks.

I did get a recipe for green peppers with an egg mixture of veggie that bakes up nice and can be frozen individually. There is also one that you mix ingred..of eggs, ham/chicken, breakfast sausage veggies and you bake in a cupcake tin that you then can freeze individually. Those are great for both fast breakfast or a snack at night.

Administrators ladyshanny Posted January 15, 2015 Administrators Share Posted January 15, 2015 Make Well Fed cookbook recipe Velvety Butternut Squash and serve it alongside any meat. You will not regret it! We just ate that this week! And last week when I was way too lazy to get the food processor out I did a lazy-man's version. I cubed a raw butternut squash, tossed it in avocado oil and then in pecans that I had pulverized with some Ras El Hanout. And then baked the pecan & spice coated cubes until they were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was SO good! Same basic flavour, totally different presentation. It's just not my kinda food. I'm making a pork roast tonight. On a normal night those would probably pork tacos with slaw.

So grab some collard greens to use as your "shells" for the pork, and make a slaw with homemade mayo. There are all kinds of ways to be creative on a Whole30. Here's a recipe on the author of Well Fed's website for Tropical Tacos with Jicama Slaw.
RoryO
kinda not the same. I would say it's like SWYPO, but it's not even close.
RoryO
Also, I'm in a horrible mood. When does that pass? Like, murdery, all the time.
Moderators ultrarunnergirl Posted January 16, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 16, 2015 Here's the Whole30 Timeline. Everyone is different, but this is a rough guide. If you find you still feel cranky often, or tired, eat more higher carb veggies like sweet potatoes, beets, winter squash, etc. It really helps. RoryO
I already uped my carbs from last time cause last Whole 30 I was so tired I could hardly move or get out of bed. Also, this Whole 30 isn't affecting me the same. My skin isn't getting better. My face still looks puffy. Looking at photos from last time I was looking so much healthier at this point. jmcbn
Sex With Your Pants On - used to describe foods made from compliant ingredients but that emulate foods from the SAD diet, or other non compliant foods in general like almond flour pancakes; puddings made from coconut milk, bananas, dates, avocados & cacao; coffee creamer made from dates, coconut milk & cinnamon; faux pastas.... that sort of thing.Generally anything labelled guilt-free paleo!!
