stefmbrown
I didn't see this particular restaurant mentioned in other forum posts, and given that today is my 1st day on my 1st Whole30, I'm thinking through options for the week and wanted to check about Roti. There are Roti locations in Washington, DC, Virginia, Maryland, New York and Chicago. I like their Roti chicken salad which seems like it could still work on the program with a few modification (no cheese, hummus, pita, etc...). They indicate on their website that the chicken is free-range from Amish farms with no antibiotics, etc... http://roti.com/introducing-freebird-chicken/ And then some of the other items for the salad seem to work as well including mixed greens, tomato and cucumber salad, spanish eggplant, sumac onions, olive and fresh vegetables. http://roti.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Roti_Alergen-Chart_June-2014-1.pdf I would need my own dressing but does the rest sound OK - I'd love to have another option besides the carnitas salad at Chipolte for the inevitable business lunch or day without leftovers. Thanks for your help!
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted January 19, 2015 Moderators Share Posted January 19, 2015 Their pdf in your second link is pretty helpful, but one thing it doesn't tell you about is sugar or sweeteners. Marinades for meat can have sweeteners. I doubt the mixed greens would, but I remember looking at a cucumber salad fresh made in a health food store once, thinking it would be a good option, and finding it had sugar in it. They sneak it in everywhere. But, since the restaurant seems to be focused on healthy eating, they surely will be able to tell you more about all the ingredients, if you email them or call during a non-busy time to talk to them. BFiWill
I just sent in an online comment and got their ingredients list. Turns out that there are lots of landmines in their menu. I'm a super newbie and am currently terrified about choosing a location for an upcoming work lunch. I was hoping Roti would work. Foiled again. laura_juggles
All of the proteins are cooked with soybean oil, too. Reading their website it's all "oh, our Amish chickens are allowed to roam free and eat all the grass and bugs they want on lush farmland and blah blah blah" but then it's covered in sugary spice blends and cooked with soybean oil. It's lame.
nicolemariedias
This 2018 allergen chart shoes that they removed soybean oil from all of their meats. There is also an asterisk for items that contain honey. http://roti.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Roti_AllergenDietaryChart-1.pdf

The person ordering needs to review the ingredients of everything they want to eat as the allergen chart doesn't include corn, legumes, sulphites or other types of sugars/sweeteners.
