Maycat
Does anyone know if Montreal Steak Seasoning is Whole30 compliant? Here are the ingredients: COARSE SALT, SPICES (INCLUDING BLACK PEPPER, AND RED PEPPER), GARLIC, SUNFLOWER OIL, NATURAL FLAVOR, AND EXTRACTIVES OF PAPRIKA. The natural flavor and sunflower oil are what concerns me. Thank you :-)
Xandra
I would guess this is non-compliant. It's so easy to add those other spices yourself, why bother introducing even a little sunflower oil? Save it for your post-Whole30.
Maycat
Yes, but is a small amount of sunflower oil a whole30 no-no? I am curious because someone else posted that canola oil is ok in small quantities.
Susan W
Seed oils are not banned..there are just many oils that are superior. Also, you are right in that it will be a miniscule amount.
Susan W
Another thought..make your own using those ingredients. I do it all the time but I also have a pretty big selection of spices.
Robin Strathdee
That seasoning would be fine But I'm a self-blender, too.
Meganelizabetho
I love Montreal steak seasoning and use it on ground beef and steak. When I run out of this current container of it, I will start mixing my own, but for the time being, I'm accepting it in my whole30

CarolinaJ85
I think it's fine to use it up. Afterward I would recommend buying spices separately. So much more versatile. I have found over the past few weeks that when I can't smother things in fatty sauces, I am really learning how to combine the spices I already have on hand to make something fantastic.
