Hello and Happy Sunday evening to all.

Yesteday I walked almost 7 miles, it was a gorgeous day in Chicago! Phew, I'm feeling it today, so only walked about 2 miles.

I went clothes shopping for a vacation coming up and man, do i hate those 3-way mirrors! But seeing my rear-end just cemented things for me, that I'm not done with this way of eating, not by far. What a way to encourage me to keep eating healthy!

For those using W30 to also loose some weight, go check your rear in a 3-way mirror :o

A sort-of confession...Today, I wanted to make potato salad and egg salad for the work week. Yesterday, I made the eggs and potatoes and today I was going to put it all together, but I still had to make Mayo since I ran out. I got lazy, and i thought to myself, oh heck, I'm on day 28, do I really need to make that freakn mayo that takes 20 minutes to make??? I got out the non-compliant mayo and I was "this close" to using it. But I DIDN'T!!! I read the ingredients and said to myself, I just can't do it! So I put the non-compliant mayo back in the fridge, and made a Balsamic vinegar dressing instead.  :D

Let's keep compliant - only a few days left!!! We came all this way, we can do it!!!! We owe it to ourselves!

Okay Bricky, I'm quite sure we were separated at birth now. We have so much in common. I practice reiki. I've been finally feeling like I have the right energy to pursue a reiki practice with real, live clients.  :)

Wow Debz so much in common would love to keep in touch post W30 - are you on FB? If not how else could we keep in touch - I am happy to post my email here not sure if this is allowed. The Reiki workshop was fabulous - very tiring though thus explaining my silence over the weekend. went to Vivid again and took my granddaughter. They had the most beautiful pictures and animation on Customs House at Circular Quay would love to post a pic or two but can't work out how to access on my desktop - the dialogue box for pictures asks for a URL - can anyone help?

Hi Jeanie! They say that once somebody gets used to black coffee, they can never go back to the way it was. Welcome to the dark side.  :)

Changes are happening faster for me in this last week. I feel like it's finally all coming together.

Hi Jeanie and Debz - changes happening fast for me too - I have lost the taste for black coffee though preferring to have it with coconut cream - might have to work on that one because I was really lovin it before but was worried about staining my teeth. I have been snacking quite a bit last few days on dates and almonds - while doing the workshop and battling the amazing crowds at Vivid!

This morning I emailed Celestial Seasoning, to start my own long term correspondence regarding natural flavors, because "natural flavors" are in the herbal tea I've been drinking every night. There was no hint of anything sweet in the ingredients, not even rooibos, and yet it is sweet tasting. Errrgh. I already feel angry at them, without even knowing for sure what those natural flavors are, because big corporations get around rules and regulations through nefarious loopholes all the time to dupe the public into buying their products. I'm hoping Celestial Seasonings doesn't do that, because they are a respected brand, but I'm having my doubts.

If it turns out that my tea was spiked with clandestine sugar syrup, I am starting over. ::Stamps feet, slams door, pouting….:: I wanted my Whole30 to be 100% compliant, dammit!

So, maybe it's day 26, maybe it's not. Doesn't matter. I'm so mad at big industry right now! Consumers don't stand a chance.

Okay. Done sounding off...

Breakfast: Sauteed spinach and 3 eggs.

Lunch: Leftover chicken thighs and sweet potato, blueberries.

Dinner: To be determined…. going shopping.

Nickie - Hope you feel better. Migraines are the worst.

Amanda - I agree with everyone else, we're here for you, and respect any decision that you make on your personal journey.

Everyone - I'm so happy for this little group of intrepid Whole30-ers. It is really a process unlike any other, and I'm grateful for all of you.  :)

::Stomps away to the herb garden to make her own dam herbal tea!::

Debz - Oh dear the tea - how annoying and irritating to see how the wool is pulled over our eyes by manufacturers and marketers.

Starting over? It's all about the mindset really I'd call it continuing on - which I believe you said you were going to do anyway  :)

Amanda and Arin I have been off the forum for a few days and have not yet caught up and this post may be out of sync with your current status - both of you hanging in there - well done, getting this far - what ever you decide to do is what is best for you best wishes to you all.

St Sophia I hope you are feeling better and Nickie too. Init2winit, Jeannie, Jean, Robbs, MegaG, Stac_ny, Lauriem, sidiancliff sorry i am sure I left someone out so to everyone I just love this process, this forum and the friendship and support will miss you guys after the W30.  Almost there now Day 29 - wow!!!

Why hadn't I thought of this before?  Last night I was having ladyshanny's pork burgers only this time made with ground turkey and I wanted a sauce to go with them so I added a healthy dose of franks red hot to my home made mayo and OMG.  I wanted to eat it by the spoonful.  It was great on the burgers and also so good as a dip for carrots and celery!

What is Franks red hot - I wonder if we get that 'down under"? is there a recipe anyone to make a similar?

Amanda, congratulations on 16 years!!! Now there's an achievement! Proud of you for taking each moment, meal and day as it comes. I'll follow in your lead :)

Loved sleeping in today, and really excited for a Qi Gong workshop I'm heading to today.  Have been wanting to check that out for a while. hoping i'll have, maybe not my "normal" energy, but at least "feel good" energy today to take me through dance class and the rest of the weekend of gardening, bbqs, and a day of leisurely hiking tomorrow.

Well, my house is a disaster zone. between being exhausted all the time, finally taking out my summer clothes, and spending all my free time cooking meals and reading about health, hopefully i'll find some down time before monday to clean. At least my fridge is weirdly organized. has anyone else segregated out their food in the fridge: proteins in one area, veggies that will go bad in another, a section of "compliant fats." haha. easy access i suppose.

have a wonderful weekend all and look forward to reading your updates!

ha ha I have organised my fridge too - anything non compliant goes to the "drinks fridge' a second fridge we have in one of the spare rooms or on the very bottom shelf so I cant see it!

I love how everyone is so happy and excited about stuff! However, I woke in an extremely different place today...almost depressed and sad. I have the ability to cry at the drop of a hat and I'm just feeling bummed. Not sure what's up...but, I don't want to go out with friends, I don't want to cook anymore, I gag at the thought of having to eat chicken and veg even tho I mix up recipes and try different options. Hope this is just a little rut and tomorrow will be better. I feel like I just need to crawl back into bed and get up on a different side. I even woke up feeling heavy and like my clothes didn't fit and discouraged! Last night and today have been tough. Very Tough.

I am reading this a day or so after you wrote it I do hope you are feeling better

I am so, so sorry.  :(  I know firsthand how awful this is.

(I had also just had to put to sleep my 18 yr old cat...  I've had her since she was 4 weeks old.  It was a very sad day.)

Has anyone else shopped online at vitacost.com?  I found the site just around the time I started this journey and they have great low cost stuff that we all use, especially on whole 30.  The spices are really inexpensive and they have things like Red Boat Fish sauce, coconut aminos, refined and unrefined coconut oil, etc...

Day 26th for me today! I'm feeling great and my weekend was packed with things and temptations! I stayed strong! Weekends have always been hard on me no matter what diet, lifestyle change or eating. I always find myself grazing and making bad choices, or drinking. This has always been hard on my with Whole 30. I still find myself grazing on the weekend and that is why I'm planning on continuing Whole 30 for more days. Maybe a Whole 45. I've still have not been able to shake the boredom eating, even with compliant foods.

My weekend wasn't that boredom though. I know I've raved about those Yumboxes, but they have made it super easy for me to be compliant this weekend. We went to a Children's Festival this Saturday and we packed the yumboxes. We had such a great time and my son enjoyed all the free items they had (petting zoo, bounce house and Life Lion landed. Which was fun to watch!) It was supported by Penn State Children's hospital which is very near and dear to our hearts. That evening was hard... We had a wedding reception at a family friend's winery and he had all his wines on tap. Which tbh they are all really great! So it was really hard on me and I kept using the off-roading road map flowchart in my head. I physically MOVED myself away from the bar and I made my husband drink as it gave me a 'responsibility' to drive. He understood and enjoyed the drinks. I ate before hand to be on the safe side, but they provided a lot of compliant items including roasted pork & roasted beef. I really leaned on the Whole 30 challenge excuse to family and friends. It honestly scares me about when I'm off of it. I need to be able to hold my own and say no. I enjoyed myself, and my new clothing (I was able to fit into my smaller size shorts that I haven't fit into since before my daughter!!!!!) I had this new found confidence on the dance floor!

I also started doing leafy green smoothies. I know this is a no-no, but I'm also nursing my daughter and eating all those leafy greens is something that I'm trying to work out. I ended up making a green smoothie (kale, spinach, fresh ginger, splash of lemon & apple) and it was really good and I was able to get those extra leafy greens to help with nursing. I think this is a good habit to be forming for now.

Sunday we ended up packing our Yumboxes and going to the Street rod show, which we had a good time. Then went to market and got fresh produce! Which I perfected the breakfast sausage which boosted my cooking self-esteem!

On my facebook feed someone posted a photo of them enjoying wonton soup from my favorite Chinese Restaurant. They use all fresh ingredients so of course it looked divine and I thought. When I'm allowed to cheat I'm getting wonton soup. I even spent the evening finding gluten free wonton wrappers and paleofied wonton soup. Is this unhealthy?

I had a great weekend and busy weekend, but I was still able to keep compliant! I can't believe this is the last weekend on my Whole 30.

I hope everyone else had a great weekend!

This morning I also noticed that my body composition is changing drastically. My smaller size pants are falling off of me, my double chin is practically gone. My stomach is flat... really flat!! I had two babies... and stretch marks! I can see my whole feet without sucking it in! I'm like ecstatic!

Hi Bricky, i couldn't figure out how to upload photos either without an URL. Technology mystifies me sometimes. I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to keep in touch off the site. There is a "contact" option through the profiles. Maybe that would work.  :)

Reiki is amazing. Glad your experience was good. I haven't practiced in a while, but since I feel so much better, I've signed up for a monthly Reiki circle to get back into it. The attunements never leave you, but I'm a little rusty at "listening" and feeling the energy.

It is Day 29 or -3 day countdown until new roll-over Whole 30

Breakfast - sautéed baby bella mushrooms and onions with Thai basil, 3 eggs.

Lunch - sardines and raw vegetable platter, an apple

Dinner - To be determined. Protein and vegetables for sure.  ;)

I'm going on an overnight trip with my daughter. We're seeing a specialist in another state for her gastric issues. I wish she was receptive to Whole30 right now, but she was just on a grueling 4 year elimination diet with a functional medicine doctor, which over time eliminated almost everything in her diet, and her symptoms never improved, if anything, they worsened. She is disillusioned as far as nutrition goes. So I respect her decision to eat as she pleases right now.

But, while we are traveling, I'm going to remain quietly compliant. I'm bringing hard-boiled eggs, almonds, dates and raisins, raw veggies, apples and plenty of water. I'll do my best in restaurants.

Debz - sounds like your daughter has been through quite a lot, and your family in general seems very health-oriented. so your "leading by quiet example" must have had a big impact on them :)

Bricky - Good to have you back! Sounds like you've been roaring along!

Didn't sleep well - woke for about an hour in the night and had trouble sleeping until my alarm today (which was bad bc i was tired and needed the sleep). but look forward to a compliant Day 26 and daaaaaaaaamn my skin is soft!

in an attempt to resolve SLEEP issues, I'm abstaining from coffee today.

M1 9:30 fried eggs + sweet potato hash browns (made w japanese sweet potatoes YUM! - thanks for recco whoever on this forum brought those to my attention!)

M2 1:30 chocolate chilli + sautéed cauliflower

M3 6:30 chocolate chilli + sautéed cauliflower

Day 29!

I've had a rough past few days.  So sick of all the food, I've not been having meals, just snacking, not good.  I've also had a really bad headache since Friday (weather related, I'm pretty sure) and I've not wanted to cook, so yeah....

My plantar fasciitis has reared its ugly head (foot?) again, and even though I've had no sugar, I did have more fruit the past 5 days than I had been.  So telling.  Sugar is sugar.

Question for you all:  So now that we are near the "end".....what are you most looking forward to adding back to your diet?  For me, its tamari/soy sauce.  I do a lot of asian inspired cooking, the coconut aminos are expensive, and I find I had to use a lot more of those than I would the soy sauce.

I can't wait to go out for lunch and order a salad with tuna or chicken and not worry about sugar in the salad dressing.  I'm going to continue to use my seasonings and dressings from scratch at home but I'm going to enjoy myself when I eat out.  I rarely eat out anyway, but I have missed out on a few lunches and dinners this past 30 days because I wanted to stay compliant.

I'm not sure if this has changed my life.  I suppose, in a way, it has, because its really opened my eyes to see how certain foods affect me (Dairy, I am talking to you!).  I know for sure I cannot do another 30 days right now.  I do feel deprived.  But I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

I'll be slightly switching gears and eating LCHF after this.  Still no grains, no sugar, no dairy for me, and I'm cutting back on fruit and potatoes.   I'm still eating fruit on its own, something I haven't been able to shake with this whole 30, so that's something I need to continue to work on.

Have a great day everyone!

Frank's used to be a local thing, a long time ago. Then Buffalo chicken wings hit the scene, and so did Frank's. Now it's everywhere. I once found Frank's red hot in Costa Rica, when I was on vacation. It was in all the stores. So maybe, in Australia too, as an import?

It's also available on Amazon. Hope you can find it. It's an awesome sauce.  :)

Debz, if you click on the "more reply options" when you're posting, it will bring you to a higher formatting screen and you can upload photos from your computer! I had to mess around a little to find it but, there you have it!

The days are a blur, aren't they?  Spent a weekend at the cabin with my family - and cooked W30 for them, they didn't even notice the difference.  I'm still thinking I'll continue this W30 to at least a W45, I'm feeling the benefits more now than I did the first 3 weeks.  It's become second nature, although the prep part is tough on me.  Working fulltime, three kids who are 7, 6,6 (yes, I have twins) and trying to be a wife is just a lot to balance without adding chef prep into the mix.  I know I've lost inches, maybe a few pounds - I'm down one pants size and that's made a difference in my attitude.  The sleep part is just not kicking in for me - mommy-ears keep me always on alert, listening for the kids.  It's a gorgeous day out here in Bellevue (suburb of Seattle), supposed to hit 90 degrees...I'll be watching it from my office.  I decided to get a mani-pedi today after work - take a little me time before I hit the chaos of my house! I love the supportive messages on this Board - you are all fabulous!  Have a wonderful day and kick it!

Day 29 everyone!  Hard to believe. I agree that the last half of the W30 went a lot quicker than the first half; but I've had ups and downs in this last half too.

I also had that "Day 28 is just as good as Day 30, right" moment! I was struggling last night, but once again, I'm so glad I stayed compliant! I made the carnitas from the Whole30 book this weekend - and they were AMAZING!

Another NSV that I really didn't think of last time I listed them out was I've had zero food guilt since starting the W30, and I think I under estimated the power of this. It's very freeing!!

Yes that is an important one thanks CC for bringing it up - food freedom and no guilt
