RLJefferson
Day 3 and I think I could be getting a cold. Does anyone know if the Evolution drink Defense Up is compliant? Here are the ingredients. I was unsure of some of the purees and the ascorbic acid. Please help! Thanks! Orange juice, pineapple juice, mango puree, apple juice, acerola juice, ascorbic acid. Administrators ladyshanny Posted March 3, 2016 Administrators Share Posted March 3, 2016 This would technically be compliant. However, drinking a bunch of juice because you think you're getting a cold isn't the most ideal route to go. Bone broth, lots of healthy, whole foods, plenty of fluids and rest. The rest is just a marketing gimmick designed to part you and your money. Juice is juice is juice. If you want some extra vitamin C, eat an orange. LucieB
Never heard of this drink so I googled. Of course, Starbucks sells it. It's expensive sugar, with vitamin C added to it in the form of ascorbic acid. So like ladyshanny says, if you want vitamin C eat an orange, not expensive water with the vitamin added to it. This was a fun read about the drink, not sure how current it is. 14 teaspoons worth of sugar!!
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 3, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2016 Any food that you see advertised as good for your health is a third-rate choice in comparison to kale, bone broth, and a serving of salmon.
RLJefferson
Thanks everyone for your comments! I know that it is not the best and is expensive, but something quick while at work. I am hoping that it might just be some detox symptoms so I may hold off for now.
QuilterInVA
Wow - 14 teaspoons of sugar in one drink! I'd not touch it with a ten-foot pole. Oranges are easy to eat at work, too.
praxisproject
Orange, mango and pineapple are better in fruit form You lose a lot of nutrients in preserved juices (that added acid is the preservative).
