justinefl
I ordered a box of Bison, Bacon, Cranberry Epic Bars, thinking they would be Whole30 approved because the Epic Bars are first on the list of W30 approved brands! I was just now was double checking the ingredients, only to find that there is added brown sugar in the bacon. I'm wondering if this is a new addition, or if anyone could tell me which bars specifically are actually W30 compliant! Thanks! justine
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted March 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2016 No, those are not okay, and I don't think that variety has ever been okay -- I know there were always a variety or two that weren't. The Epic website has a Whole30 section, but even so, read through the ingredients before ordering, and double check them once you've received them. laura_juggles
As Shannon said, I don't think the Bison one has ever been approved, but I think that's the only bar (at the moment) which isn't approved. Always have to check those labels
justinefl
Thanks for the quick responses! I thought I was being so smart in preparing for a trip later this month. Guess I will have to save those for the "reintroduction phase".
Moderators Tom Denham Posted March 16, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 16, 2016 There are no approved "brands." There are only approved products because most vendors sell stuff that does not meet Whole30 criteria.
superchigirl
@justinefl I saw an Epic Bar at a local health food store and snatched it up before looking at the ingredients. I was disappointed as well when I got home and saw the sugar!
Mrs.Mathias
The Beef Habanero Cherry are good, I ate one in a pinch post WO, but generally I prefer just grilled chicken breast - the bars are higher in fat than I'd like for a post WO meal.
