kirkor
Bought enough zucchini last night to carry me through Day 30 (Tuesday night) ... didn't take a picture but it was a big ol' bag! It's going to be weird having "other" foods!

So it turns out my host this month DOES have a spiralizer!! You know what that means............. SPAGHETTI & MEATBALLS!! Made an animated gif just for you special people: Final result: And the verdict?? Wow, SO good! I think what really made it stand out was the sear on the meatballs. That Mailliard reaction really is a thing of beauty. I also cooked them a little less than I did the burgers, since I was worried about them crumbling apart. Turned out to be the perfect amount of time --- nice seared outside, nice medium rare on the inside.
Guest
The spaghetti and meatballs is by far your most delicious looking meet/zucchini dish.

So sorry it looks like the contents of a diaper after eating too much processed junk food. Kudos to you for trying it anyhow. On 1/16/2017 at 0:47 AM, drtracyb said: That looks disgusting. kirkor
I'm still in Wyoming so avocados will have to wait a couple weeks 'til I'm back in San Diego, so I'm going with BROCCOLI!

kirkor
I feel like I should do some sort of wrap-up post, but honestly I think the thread speaks for itself. The general reasons I gave initially, as well as the clarified reasons from week 3, still hold up. This endeavor was definitely a success! My favorite aspect overall was the mental offloading of the "what to eat" question. It was pretty great to have my food choices handled properly, day after day. Some days it kinda felt like I had a personal chef or one of those executive meal services or something. I think my verdict is the same as Whole30's official tough love advice: It is not hard. Don’t you dare tell us this is hard. http://whole30.com/2015/10/tough-love/ So, ya, peeps, think of me next time you're staring at the fridge thinking that there's nothing to eat. kirkor
Back down in San Diego (instead of Wyoming) and I see that zucchini is $0.79/lb instead of $1.78!!! Sheesh that would've been nice last month!
JenHZ
I really found this inspiring in that you did not seem to develop any nutritional deficiencies. I have been big on rotating my proteins and now I see I can not worry about that when I don't have the time to play with new foods.
