Writergirl
Just curious if anyone else (besides me) eats these? If you do, do you do anything with the meat or just scoop it out and eat with a spoon, whichi is my preferred method, but I'm always open to new ideas. Susan W
Are those the pale golden pointy ones? I see them all the time in the store, but have no clue how to open them. Are they eaiser than the older round ones? I keep meaning to ask a store employee, but there hasn't been one around when I'm in the mood to ask. Writergirl
They're usually white and they're actually super easy to open. (Google open thai coconut and you'll get a zillion hits. Youtube has a lot of video how to's also.) The inside is almost like coconut pudding.
Susan W
Oh, you know what? I think the ones I find here are without the white outter part and just the tan inside. Definitely asking next time I am at the store and buying one. I so hope the inside is like coconut pudding.
kb0426
You may have just opened up a new world for me! Can't wait to look for these!
BecknRdsMama
young coconuts are the ones we get the yummy coconut water from. Don't drink the liquid from a brown coconut, it is old and will hurt your belly. I haven't gotten a coconut since starting W30, I need one now so I can scoop the yummy "coconut pudding"
Delaine Ross
Yes, yummy coconut meat inside! I'm guilty of drilling holes and getting the water out and throwing away the rest, but that is a shame
Wendyland
I love these. I scoop out the meat and add a little of the coconut water and blend with ice, vanilla, and cinnamon. I love it.

Susan W
I tried my first thai (young) coconut about a week ago. I loved the water. I did not care for the flesh. It had a texture that I didn't care for. The water was amazing.
Joey
If I can keep myself from eating it all at once, I blend the meat and dehydrate it. It makes a perfect tortilla that can go sweet or savory depending on what spices you add. That kind of sounds like SWYPO, but it's not (for me anyway), it's just a great vehicle for getting food into my face. If you don't have a dehydrator, you could probably do it in the oven or on the stove.
Susan W
Joey that is a great idea. Buying them just for the water seemed too wasteful to me. It wouldn't be SWYPO for me either. AND I have a dehydrator.
Joey
Super! Let us know how they turn out! You can also culture the meat, again blended so it's more of a pudding or yogurt consistency.

Aberrantatavia
These are one of my favorite treats, and my kids love fresh young coconut with fresh pineapple for a raw piña colada. I use the water and the flesh. The health benefits of the water are extensive.
