Buddy Fruits

I was super sick last night and went to wal-mart to buy bananas and a couple other things. While there I came across these "Buddy Fruits" that looked like they'd be easy on my tummy

I bought one packet of apple banana puree with ingredients:

apple, banana, concentrated apple juice, lemon juice

So I think that would probably be ok. The "pure fruit bites" on the other hand:

ingredients.png
Fruit extracts (apple and carob's sugars), apple juice concentrate, apple puree concentrate, orange juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, natural orange flavor, fruit pectin, coconut oil, carnauba wax.

The front of the package says "100% Fruits* Nothing Else!"
*all our ingredients come from fruits

I didn't realize the fruit bites were basically fruit snacks, I thought they were dried apples flavored with orange juice. However, I thought that the puree or fruit bites might be good for people doing long runs/endurance exercise as an alternative to gels or energy bites, so I figured I'd ask on here and see what you guys think. I don't intend on buying them again, but they got me through a rough patch with my tummy so I'm not worried about it at this point.

I just saw the Buddy Fruit at Wal-Mart and thought they would be great to flavor plain seltzer with.  They come in a 2 oz. squeeze bag with a twist cap, and would be much more convenient at work than whole citrus for the same purpose.  I don't think I'd have it plain.  Juice is juice and is only to be used as flavoring.

It's essentially baby food. I don't think they would stir into seltzer, no--not at all. Another mom and I are always dreaming up a reusable pouch for apple/fruit purées. Those pouches are so handy, but so wasteful. Would be so easy to make your own if you had the reusable pouch. My kids LOVE one brand's beet, banana and blueberry combo. I've tasted it and it's pretty good!

I don't remember which I saw in a store, but there seem to be a bunch of options on Amazon.  The first one would be a great option to replace GU's for running!  Not that my old knees can do that anymore...

Interesting! I wonder if it has a funky taste. I make applesauce a lot and it'd be so easy to throw in some other flavors--and way cheaper than the little organic applesauce pouches I occasionally buy.

I always have at least one yummy baby food pouch on hand as part of my paleo-on-the-go emergency stash. So right now I have a butternut squash one, a packet of sea snacks, a pouch of wild salmon, and almond butter packets in my purse. I usually have a Larabar in there as well. If I am ever in a pinch they make a great meal :)

They're pretty much fruit purees, yep. I get them for my kiddos all the time. They wouldn't be a good everyday snack choice, but could come in handy for running or sick tummies :)

I just bought these last night randomly at BJ's. I wanted to try them during my long runs. I'm running a marathon in a few weeks. Tomorrow I have a 18-20 mile run. Would this be something good to use during a long run?

I've never used gu or anything before, but know my body needs something mid long run. Thoughts? Has anyone used this during running?
