alauritson
We're allowed to have Cashews, but I haven't found any that don't also include some type of oil in the ingredient list. Thoughts? Example from Essential Everyday brand of Cashews: Ingredient List: Cashews, Vegetable Oil (Peanut, Cotton Seed, Soybean and/or Sunflower Seed), Sea Salt. Example from Costco brand of Cashews: Ingredient List: Cashews, Peanut Oil, Sea Salt. Does this make the Cashews not allowed?
GFChris
Yes, cashews with non compliant ingredients are not allowed. Raw cashews are likely to be your best bet.
Ann
These are the roasted/salted cashews I've been buying. In my area, I get them at New Seasons, and I think Whole Foods also carries them. http://shop.equalexchange.coop/organic-cashews-salted-roasted.html Ingredients: Cashews, Sea salt
Tina R
I believe Trader Joe's has compliant nuts. I know their Macadamia nuts are dry roasted without any oil. I have also seen raw nuts there. Good Luck!
Chandra
I don't have a whole foods nearby and couldn't find any raw cashews at any store around here but I did manage to find some on Amazon.
Jenn1270
What if it says "may contain peanuts and other tree nuts. Produced in a facility that processes milk, wheat, and soy."? That's straight off the bag of raw cashews from Whole Foods- ingredients: Organic Cashews.
AmyS
What if it says "may contain peanuts and other tree nuts. Produced in a facility that processes milk, wheat, and soy."? That's straight off the bag of raw cashews from Whole Foods- ingredients: Organic Cashews. That's fine. That's extra information for folks who are highly allergic to the items listed, and might have a severe reaction to any cross-contamination. LucieB
Back when I ate nuts, I would find raw nuts at Walgreen's in their little $1 Nice! brand snack packs. To my surprise, raw cashews taste so much better than roasted.
staceytinva
Nuts.com has lots of compliant dry roasted nuts. (Not all of their roasted nuts are compliant. Lots use peanut oil. Read the ingredients list.) Also raw. FAST shipping. And they answer questions. Great company and great service.
isa-baerchen
Do you think it would be possible to wash off the peanut oil with hot water?
Physibeth
Do you think it would be possible to wash off the peanut oil with hot water? No, it is infused into the nuts when it is roasted.
