Thanks, while today will NOT be a compliant day. first full day home and first full day on a reg. diet, the only non-compliant thing has been raw cream in my coffee at m1. Having a burger with baked potato, ghee and some salsa. Meals are smaller than template. Don

't want to waste any food and not able to eat my normal amt right now. Not doing my normal amt right now either!

So sorry to hear about your condition.  You definitely don't want to add a food plan stress (I guess you can't) b/c you need to focus on recovery.  Use this time to do a lot of resting & reading.  I felt really ready to go on Day one because I had just returned from vacation where I relaxed & read the book.  I was highly motivated when I started b/c of that.  Good luck but please do keep in touch here.

So today is Day 31 for the folks that started when I did.  I am continuing but it is really hard hearing about their freedom & what they are excited to eat.  Ha!  I've been a mess lately b/c of kids' schedules dominating my life so a bit bummed out right now & hating everything I eat.  Just need more free time to get motivated.  You will all be my inspiration.  :-)

We really benefit if we chose to follow the reintroduction plan. It isn't mandatory but they have found the best way to introduce things so the Sugar Dragon doesn't come out of hiding. I'm doing a second W30 on the back of my first one for I know I need more time to cement my habits and way of eating. You know, we want to stay close to the W30 way of eating with a few things added back for a W30 is a lifestyle, not a diet.

This will be my like 3rd whole30.(whole60 then whole100) eating the whole30 way just doesn't feel stressful to me. It seems pretty easy right now. AND I know it is the best food for my healing body.

Day 11 is kind of brutal for me today... Been in a bad mood since I woke up- I just can't shake it. Having some cravings. Missing convenience. I can't seem to keep up with the dishes! I really really wanted to go get a sandwich today. I'm just reminding myself a couple more days and we'll be over the hump. I'm ready for some 'tiger's blood' haha. My daughter is boycotting her nap right now. GO TO SLEEP KID. MOMMY NEEDS 5 MINUTES TO HERSELF.

I will not eat chocolate. I will not eat chocolate. I will not eat chocolate. I will not eat chocolate.

Today:

M1: hash and eggs- mixed potatoes, shallots, portobello mushroom, pork sausage

M2: spinach salad with 2 soft-boiled eggs, bacon, avocado and Tessemae's ranch, and an apple with almond butter

M3: probably rotisserie chicken bc mama is not in the freaking mood!

Anybody else got the blues today?

I felt that way too when I woke up...I just didn't want to cook breakfast;) I'd love a smoothie right about now...I know the feeling will go away, but I completely empathize! I also had a pretty big craving for a glass of wine tonight! I'm settling for a La Croix on the porch. It's a gorgeous evening out! I love fall! I will say that today I actually had really consistent energy. That was a nice surprise! We can do this! Tomorrow is day 12!

Day 11! I woke up with ZERO desire to make breakfast. I need to change things up a bit..the hash is starting to get old. Today is the first day that I've had really consistent energy. That felt pretty darn good!

M1 - Chicken Sausage, zucchini, onion, bell pepper & sweet potato hash.

M2 - Leftover turkey taco meat with romaine, avocado & salsa (I had dental work done and wanted a relatively soft meal.)

M3 - Coconut Chicken Tenders! YUMMMM! Steamed broccoli and a few slices of apple and pear.

I had a craving for wine and I'm settling for a La Croix! Not the same, but it'll have to do for now;)

It is day 10 for me and I feel the very same way. I didn't wake up terribly tired, but my energy has just been dipping throughout the day. And of course there were birthday treats in the lounge at one school and a pasta party at the other school. I also had a kid use an ear-piercing scream to avoid work with me today. (He did not successfully avoid work, however). I chose not to eat that glimmering, sugar-crusted donut in the lounge. I am tired and cranky and all I want to do is snack. But I'm not going to, because while I want broccoli I do not want boiled fish. At least dinner is already in the crockpot waiting to be eaten.

It probably didn't help that I didn't have enough veg. for breakfast. I have tried and tried and tried different ways of making sweet potato, but I just can't do it. I don't mind them, I just always eat a couple then push them away. Maybe it's the texture. I know white potatoes are compliant, but they are one of "those" foods for me, so I am trying to avoid them if I can.

M1: peppers and ground beef mixed with eggs and a side of white sweet potatoes.

M2: Leftover porkchop with broccoli and mixed veggie cauliflower rice

M3: salsa crockpot chicken in lettuce with avocado and a side of zesty mixed veggies.

Help guys!  I have been eating so many onions.....can't get near people for fear they'll fall out!!  What can I do...since tic tacs are a no no..LOL!  Any suggestions?

I have been eating a lot of garlic and feel like I will knock people over with my breath! I carry a travel size bottle of Scope in my purse for those emergencies, since we can't chew gum.

My only issue right now is lack of time so therefore I'm having a hard time prepping.  Flying by the seat of my pants does not feel good to me.  It's not the Whole30 plan that is stressful.

That got to be quite an issue for me as well.  I was so pressed for time and it seemed like every spare minute and more besides were being spent in the kitchen.  Now I have opted to go for quite a bit more frozen on the veggies.  I have chopped spinach, kale, onions, and sliced mushrooms in the freezer so I can just pull out the bit I need for the meal I'm making.  I also favor making the bigger batches of soups so I can store some and the breakfast mini-quiches to cover a couple days.

Day 13 for me today.  I have noticed that the last couple of days I've woken up sleep and draggy, with an incredible urge just to roll over and go back to sleep.  (fairly unusual for me, I'm ordinarily a morning person) But once I make it to my first meal, I am fired up and ready to go.  That part is definitely enjoyable. :)

I'm fighting the sugar battle - with fruit.  Fruit has apparently become my new chocolate, am guessing it's the good old sugar dragon launching a sneak attack to try and bash the door open again.  So yesterday I did not eat any fruit, am going to have it once today and see how that goes.  Grapes are definitely off, I might as well open a bag of chips for all the control I have with them.  I did argue myself out of eating the whole bag, but it was near thing.

I find the easiest whole30 for me is not trying to try all the really cool recipes in the cook books but just looking at what I normally eat and making it compliant. Frozen veggies help, but my first time around I stressed a bit at first wanting cook all those neat recipes. Found out I didn't like a lot of them, some were keepers tho. Not saying that's what you are doing, Just my personal experience.

Definitely  the sugar dragon blowing fire.

After 31 days I still have the same issue with fruit.  For me it is grapes, pineapple, & watermelon.  Definitely the sugar dragon!  Although I try to eat them with my meal, I've been known to eat them between.  I'm going the same route. I've got to get the cravings under control before I can even think about reintroduction.  Keep me posted on how it is going with you.  I've already done it with nuts & my beloved Larabars.  I know I can do it with fruit.

I completely agree!  That first week I followed the 7-day meal plan from the book and was miserable.  Lunches especially - I found I liked my leftovers better than making tuna salad etc.  I'm also one that would rather put together my salad ingredients at a salad bar instead of making it all at home.  Making my recipes compliant has really worked for me.  My family does enjoy the dinner recipes I've been trying from Pinterest and other recipe sights.  I'm going to look at some today from other sources I haven't tried:  Wel Fed, Nom Nom Paleo, etc.

Jamie.....mouthwash!!  Why didn't I think of that....haha!

I am with you all about the amount of prep involved.  It is easy to get burned out when trying all the "new" recipes.  I, too, try as much as possible to adapt my normal cooking to be compliant.  I'm also really tired today....day 11 for me.  It's funny how one day I feel great, the next sluggish.

I haven't been eating much fruit but I think I'm overdoing it on the potatoes.  Been feeling the hunger pangs the last couple of days especially when I wake up in the morning.  I know I've been eating enough at each meal so it's not that.  I think I'm finding comfort in potatoes....more than broccoli or green beans. Which is part of the reason for doing a whole30!

Going to try to make some kind of soup this weekend to get me through next week.

Today's meals:

M1:  The last piece of spinach, mushroom frittata (thank goodness...realized I DO NOT LIKE cooked spinach)

M2:  Chicken caesar salad

M3:  Going out to dinner with hubby and his boss.  I told hubs no italian or mexican.  Have to go somewhere where I can get a steak or burger without the bun and veggies.

Robin, I'm thinking you might need to up your fat intake. your meals don't really show what you are getting and fat is energy.

Hi All! I know I am late to join you, but just came to the forum today for some inspiration and found this thread. I started on 10/4 too and thought I'd join the conversation and support. I just read through your posts (not all but most) and already feel a bit more encouraged to read others going through the same as me. Day 12 is exciting but also feels like a ton of time is left ahead of us. Not sure why today feels like the biggest struggle.

Just fixed lunch for myself and 2-y-o. I usually try to make his similar to mine but he really wanted a peanut butter and honey sandwich (I use sunbutter and almond butter for him sometimes but know he likes pb so I thought, why not?) Well, it took everything for me to not lick the pb off the knife!!! :)

Am truly hoping for some of that tiger blood next week. I do HIIT workouts early in the morning and am struggling with what to eat before. I don't want to eat, but I know I should. It's hard to eat a hard boiled egg at 5 in the morning. All that seems good to me is a banana. Any suggestions?

Also, I'm traveling to a wedding next weekend and am dreading being away. Will be in a hotel with no car and no fridge. Hoping the wedding night has some options but worried I will be starving.

Ready to be over the hump. Glad to find you all!

Grapes... yep.  I seem to do ok as long as I stay with bananas or berries, maybe because I'm usually using them in something, maybe because the berries are a lower sugar fruit.  I carefully packed all the rest of the grapes in my husband's lunch today to avoid any temptations.  I'm planning on only putting the berries in my vinaigrette and on the occasion I add them into another food as flavor.  The fruit itself is healthy enough, but man did it kick off a bad afternoon of cravings to get over again.  I can definitely live without that, lol.

I am feeling the same thing today! Very very draggy, tired, my limbs feel weak. Day 13 for me. I have no energy. Just had a couple prosciutto wrapped egg muffins for breakfast with some avocado and roasted sweet potato spears. I did manage to eat most of it. I had some VERY strong aversions to sweet potatoes and avocado the first week, so that felt like a victory to me this morning!

Yesterday's meals for us were:

M1: Prosciutto wrapped egg muffins (used the nomnompaleo recipe as a guide- I didn't put the coconut milk or flour in, and I used mushrooms, onion, a leek, and spinach) with leftover mixed potato/suasage hash

M2: Ginger-garlic pork lettuce wraps (also used nomnompaleo recipe as a guide)

M3: Chicken soup

About an hour after we ate lunch yesterday I had some intense reflux and nausea. Still just not feeling quite right today. I laid down for a bit yesterday afternoon and then made chicken soup for dinner. I felt pretty good after that, actually. I am tending to have a burst of energy in the evening after my daughter goes to bed, which isn't unusual for me, but I need to do something about it- I've not been getting to sleep until 11:30 or 12 the past few nights and my daughter has been waking up at 5:30/5:45 and it's killing me! I can't make her wake up later so I've got to get myself to bed earlier. Anybody have any favorite wind down tips before bed?

Honestly, I don't know how all of you are managing to do whole30 around a full-time job! I'm a stay at home mom which has its own challenges, but being home to cook is a benefit. Before whole30 we did pretty quick lunches and breakfasts, so putting effort into making breakfast everyday has been quite an adjustment. We go to the farmers market Saturday morning and do a big stock up and then go home and make a plan for the week with what we got and go to the grocery store to supplement. But I still feel like I go to the store everyday for something I've forgotten!

Day 13. Almost over the hump. I'm hoping my energy level pops back up soon. I have to say, I have a mega sweet tooth, but I haven't been having much in the way of sweet cravings. I think I miss legumes more than anything!

Same here! Pumped one day, pooped the next. And we have been eating a lot of potatoes… I've tried to cut back- we had brussels sprouts and carrot ginger soup with our rotisserie chicken the other night instead of potatoes, and I'm trying to do more with sweet potatoes now that I don't gag at the sight of them anymore haha.

I have a 2 year old also and as much as I'd like her to be doing the whole30 with us, I offer her what I make, but often end up making her something different after. I can't even keep track of how many times I've almost eaten her leftovers haha! It's so instinctual, isn't it?!

Good luck with the travel! Maybe try to bring some easy compliant things just in case? I know it's not exactly in the spirit of the whole30, but they do have a list of some approved travel/emergency foods here:

http://whole30.com/whole30-approved/

Our Whole Foods has the Epic bars; my husband had on the other day and really liked it.

Welcome to the group! :)

Day 13! Almost 1/2 way there!

Last night I slept straight from 9:30 until 5:30...no waking up, ZERO tossing and turning. Feels like a small miracle! The crazy bloating I was experiencing is starting to subside.....Thanks Goodness! I need to sit down and meal plan today. In my two previous attempts I've thrown in the towel around day 21 and I don't want to let that happen this time. I have to make sure I have some interesting meals planned to keep me going!

Yesterdays Meals:

M1 - Sweet Potato, Zucchini, Bell Pepper, Onion & Chicken Sausage Hash

M2 - Chicken Salad (Homemade Mayo, Celery, Onion & Dried Cranberries) on Butter Lettuce tossed with EVOO & Red Wine Vinegar

M3 - Leftover Coconut Chicken Tenders & Brussels Sprouts (They didn't bother my stomach last night, yay!)

Today:

M1 - Same as above, but minus the zucchini & add mushrooms

M2 - Tuna with homemade mayo on a veggie loaded salad

M3 - Not sure......I have some chicken thighs and sunshine sauce in the fridge, so maybe something with that

Welcome lizlove...it's good to have you!

Yesterday.....UGH

The plans to go out to dinner with hubby's boss got cancelled.  It was a struggle but I managed not to go off on my wonderful man for changing the plan!  He said we could still go out but with the budget really tight I didn't want to spend $40 on 2 meals...mine probably being nothing more than a plain burger and steamed broccoli.  Meanwhile back home....I didn't have any protein defrosted....no leftovers...nothing!  And I. WAS. STARVING.  I sat on the couch for 1/2 hour contemplating what to do all the while spiraling down and down and down.  Decided on eggs and the small little bit of leftover sweet potato hash I was going to have for breakfast.  I reached for the eggs...I only had 5 and I needed 3 for dinner, 2 for breakfast, and 2 for a coffee cake I needed to make for bosses day breakfast (ANOTHER UGH).  I ended up wandering around the grocery store for 20 minutes.  Came home with more eggs because by this time it was JUST TO LATE!

I think this is my struggle with whole30....if you're not prepared you could be doomed!  Things were easier when there were 5 of us in the house and I was cooking dinner every night for the family.  But now we're down to 3 and most nights my son is at work leaving just the hubs and I.  I do still cook but the days of "leftover" and "whatever" meals and "let's just grab a chick-fil-a sandwich" because I am exhausted are becoming the norm.

Now that I've written you a dissertation..LOL...I made it through.  And I made it through bosses day breakfast!  I ate my 2 fried eggs and my wonderful co-workers had mercy on me and brought fruit and veggies so I could have something, too.

I'm still struggling with hunger pangs.  I think I've been eating a good amount of fat.  I'm always using olive oil or clarified butter to cook things in.  Not sure what the deal is :)  Today I have an interesting lunch....a can of tuna with marinated artichoke hearts, roasted red peppers, and kalamata olives with tomatoes and cucumbers on the side.  Orange chicken for dinner with cauliflower rice (first time making this).

Sorry this was so long...but who else can I talk to that will understand...HAHA

Worth noting is that it's not just what you do right before bed that makes a difference. Starting your day by eating breakfast within an hour of waking and getting some exposure to sunlight early in the day help as well.
