Sssheri1980
Help! I have a 3lb grassfed beef heart taking up my freezer. My cookbooks and the internet are lacking in recipes. How do I prepare it?
Susan W
I googled Paleo Beef Heart and this was the first one that came up. Sounds like you have some cleaning of said heart before you cook it unless yours is already cleaned. Sounds like a tasty recipe to me. http://fastpaleo.com/beef-heart-chili/
Kirsteen
I'd love to know how you get on with it and how you find it. Until now heart is something that has never even even crossed my radar But I'm definitely getting braver. i know where I could get one so I'd kinda like to try it but I'd like to hear how you get on first. Still a bit of a coward
Renee Lee
Treat it like a tough steak or roast. I've had it sliced then seared and tossed in a crock pot for an evening. It was yummy both ways
Loraine
I like it roasted in the oven, stuff the pipes with a nice stuffing of your choice. Needs to roast for about 20 mins a pound at 190c or 360f, baste with fat during the cooking and you can serve with roasted vegges.
Fenderbender
Do you have a local butcher who will grind it for you??? 95% of salami is made from heart.... Very tough.... If you can get it ground up some way and add 25% GF FAT trimmings to it, you could make great pâté, sausage, ect... Or just slow cook it until fork tender ( 4 hours. Lol)
SpinSpin
I LOVE beef heart in chili--long slow cooking is the best way for such a tough piece of meat.
Tasha
http://www.thepaleomom.com/tag/heart She's got a roast, some skewers and some jerky! I've never had heart myself, just remember her posting about them.
cholitau
I'm Peruvian, and we make a dish called Anticuchos, which is marinated and grilled beef heart skewers. It's delicious! I found you this recipe! http://maceratinginpublic.wordpress.com/2010/08/02/anticuchos/ If you decide to venture out and make it, you can find aji panca at whole foods. They sell them whole dried.
