Jennifer D.
This is probably a silly, obvious question but... Coconut butter is separated from other nut butters in the pantry stocking list. There is lots of advice to limit nut butter consumption, but twice as many recipes and suggestions promoting coconut butter. So my question is: is coconut butter still technically a nut butter, and how much of it is ok to eat on a regular basis? Thank you!
Susan W
No it is not considered a nut butter. It is a healthy fat and contains no omega 6. So you just need to fit it into the meal template and not eat the entire jar.
Moderators Tom Denham Posted May 18, 2013 Moderators Share Posted May 18, 2013 To extend what Susan said, coconut butter is healthier than nut butters, but it is a high fat food that can inspire binge eating. I think it is a bad idea to eat coconut butter by the spoonful, but fine to use an ingredient in things you are preparing.

Terresa
Incidentally, coconut is a fruit, not a nut.

Kirsteen
I like coconut butter melted over veg if the meals a bit low in fat. It's also a good way to up the fat in a soup or a curry. I'm all excited 'cos yesterday I made my own for the first time

praxisproject
lol I put mine into one of the tiny containers from LunchBots, it's maybe a tablespoon or two. I like them for measuring nut butters too, and they are very portable.
