Grilled lake trout with pineapple/avocado sounds awesome! I really like trout. Which reminds me I have some tinned smoked trout I'd like to turn into a salad.

I also wanted to respond to your earlier post about cleaning out clothes. It's as if I'm getting buried alive by my kids' clothes. I don't know how people with more kids deal with it. I finally went through bins of clothes this weekend and bagged up a bunch to give away. Phew! Such a relief to get it out.

Yep - buried alive! LOL

So far so good with goat cheese.

Bad sleep last night. We had thunder storms that started just as I was going to bed and I couldn't help but worry after reading Mulov's post about tornado warnings last weekend. It was tough to get up this morning.

I need to fit in more exercise somehow. It has been too rainy to walk at lunch and by the time I get home from running the kids around at night, I am too tired to do anything. I hate to get up earlier. I'll have to think on it and figure something out.

M1 - tuna salad with apples, celery, avocado, sb sw pot, cm coffee

M2 - leftover thai chicken veg curry, carrots

M3 - sandwich of plantain tostadas, goat cheese and ham, veggies

Snack - bites of DQ, roast beef, olives

We ended up having a quick, small, early dinner. By the time soccer was over (they won!) I was pretty hungry. I really wanted almond butter or something like that. But, just because I made not having xbutter as an evenging snack my goal publicly, I resisted and had a few olives and a piece of roast beef. Yay me! I also had a few bites of DQ Blizzard while waiting to get home. I'm ok with that. I don't have stong reactions to anything in small amounts. Dairy in large amounts doesn't agree with me, but a few bites is fine and I am just happy I didn't order my own! And, I didn't come home and keep eating sugar. I ate my olives and beef and called it a day. I consider that a huge win for me. BTW - s'mores blizzard is very good! :)

AF is here, so I'm kind of crampy and bloaty. Not horribly. Just normally for me. I'm lucky in that I have never had bad PMS or cramps or anything. I'm unlucky in that I've always had a 21 day cycle. Eating this way seems to be stretching that out to 25 days, which is a nice side effect. I wonder if I'd been eating this way when TTC if I would have had an easier time. I had miscarriages at 6 wks along because my "luteal phase" is too short - 7 days isn't long enough for baby to get a strong hold. A few days might have made a difference. Not that I'd change anything now, of course. If those pregnancies had stuck, I wouldn't have the kids I have now. So, it's all good, but it wasn't fun at the time. Interesting, though, that SAD could have been partly to blame.

M1 - sb with carrots, celery, co fried eggs, strawb, cm coffee

M2 - tuna salad with apples, celery, avocado, sw pot, carrots

M3 - sw pot "pizza" w/ goat cheese, tomato sauce, chicken, salad

snack - wine, twizzlers

Busy day. We had a garage sale and a soccer tournament and a graduation party. I did pretty well, though.

M1 - co fried eggs, carrots w/ sb, cm coffee

M2 - plantain tostada "sandwich" with roast beef, goat cheese, spinach salad

snack - carrots/cauliflower/snap peas, small cookie

M3 - ab sw pot, tuna, avocado, salad, sip red wine

Observations: The glass of red wine last night made my stomach not feel great. It also made me want sugar. The sip tonight is sitting fine, but I still want sugar. I am resisting so far.

I had a miscarriage between kids. It made it hard to enjoy my 2nd pregnancy till it was pretty far along. I was afraid to trust it. But you are right, you would t have the kids you have now. I have thought that, too.

I need a garage sale so badly! Of course we don't have a garage. We call them stoop sales here. :) in any case I have a bunch of stuff to sell but can never seem to pull it together when other people on the street are doing it. (We usually have a bunch of ppl set up all at once along the sidewalk. More likely for ppl to stop by.)

I think you are onto something with the wine. I have suspected the same: the sugar cravings.

Much quieter day today. I made the kids bike to Kohls and Target with me. The little one whined a bit, but they made it.

I decided to try bread today. Rather than making something separate, I just ate the French Toast I made for the family. It's all organic, dairy free and egg free and is actually named after my son and made by a woman who owns a bakery on the way to our cabin. So, Logan's Dairy Free Cinnamon Bread is a "worth it" treat. I'm interested to see how I feel. I feel a little overstuffed right now. I have a feeling I'll be hungry earlier than dinner. But, we'll see. Goal is to hold out until dinner and not cave into a snack.

M1 - co fried eggs, salad, avocado, cm coffee

M2 - French Toast (on bread!) with zucchini/strawberry sauce (with sugar!), sausage

M3 - beef roast, sw pot, avocado

Ugh! I feel a little ill. I got into the coconut butter/sunbutter after dinner. Sigh. I am stopping now. On the plus side, the pot roast was actually pretty good. I used the rest of the wine to braise it. I figured that was a better use for it than drinking it! :)

Goal for this coming week is the same as last week - no anythingbutter after dinner and NO sunbutter (it has sugar). I did great last week. I can do it again. The CB is only for drizzling on my sweet potatoes as my fat portion, It is not meant to be a substitute dessert! I need to put it back in its place.

My goal for the coming month is to sweat more. May was SO busy and so cold and icky and I let my workouts slide more often than not. In June, I will do better.

I can't believe I've been at this for over 2 months now. If you'd told me even three months ago that I'd be eating pot roast for dinner, I would never have believed you. I am still hoping to ease in some more non-meat foods, but I'm taking it pretty slowly and trying to stick to the template. The benefit/motivation for me is to be able to eat 3 meals/no snacks and not be hungry every 2 hours. I really like that. I also like being just a little smaller.

I am going to just keep on keepin' - tweaking and trying new things to see what works for me. I still have a sugar dragon. The CB/SB thing tonight is proof of that. I'm not sure if it will go away, but if I can keep it contained, that would be good.

It's been really good for me to quit the butters. I was definitely using them as dessert and food without brakes. I still want to reach for them sometimes, but I've stopped following through on that impulse.

Great job stepping back and gaining perspective on what W30/W9 has done for you. It inspires me to do the same. I've been at it since April 7 and I can see that it's a good thing to say, hey, I've committed to this for a while and that sure is something. It's much easier for me to simply look at what I haven't yet achieved. But no snacking and no real hunger is so big it could slap us in the face, right?

Your taking the longer-term view helps me do the same, so thank you, Jen! And congrats on your continuing journey and transformation!

Thanks, M.  I've been at this since April 1st!  Crazy.  I am doing my best to do this in a calm and not over thinking way.  It's not worth replacing one obsession (calorie counting) with another.  It helps me, too, to read about everyone else's journeys.  Everyone here is so inspiring!

I decided to stop logging my food unless it's a reintro that I want to keep track of in case I want to look back to see if anything triggered a reaction.

So, June goals:

no anybutter after dinner

sweat more - aim for 2 x a week (work lunch walks don't count as the goal there is to NOT get sweaty!)

log only reintro foods for tracking purposes

stick to template the best I can - 3 meals, no snacks, protein/fat/veg, limit sugar

Here's to a great month!

Jen, I am so with you on the no butters.  I have both homemade coconut butter and almond butter in my pantry.  Coconut butter hasn't been an issue - mostly because it's cold and it's hardened up and it's not nearly so lush (or easy to dig out).  Almond butter another story altogether.  I have a bit left and am torn between biffing it or trying to use it responsibly.  Maybe I'll just hide it at the back of the pantry for now.

My June goals are pretty much the same as yours :)  Best of luck, may this be a wonderful month!

Yesterday after school, my son wanted to show me how you can make music with a wine glass by running a wet finger around the rim (they must have learned that in music class or something).  When he was done, he asked for a drink so I gave him kombucha in the wine glass.  Boy did he get a kick out of that!  Fancy kid!

My older son had his 5th grade graduation ceremony yesterday.  He is officially a middle schooler.  Yikes!  That is scary.  I was so proud, though.  And a little teary.

I can't believe it's summer already.  Now, I just wish the weather would act like it!

So far this week, I'm doing well.  No anybutter after dinner.  I did have some almond butter with carrots as part of my lunch yesterday, but I'm ok with that.  It's the snacky anybutter that gets me.  I am also working on working out more.  I ran/walked during soccer practice on Monday and have done my tough yoga video twice.  Gotta keep it up!

Jen I loved playing hooky from my work computer long enough to read through your log. Congrats on being able to juggle so many things at once!

Reading through, I'm resolved to not buy nut butters because I would probably be face down in the jar. I've had 1 jar of coconut butter for months and it never occurs to me to eat it.

How great that you get fresh fish! I was a vegan for many years, but have to admit, I LOVE meat! :)

Tummy is too full.  My (W30 compliant) lunch was kind of light yesterday, but for some reason, left me feeling gassy and bloated.  For some reason, when my tummy is "active" I always feel like putting more food in it.  I'm not sure why I do that.  Anyway, I ate too much (W30 compliant) dinner.  Then, I went to a last day of school party, picked at the fruit tray, tried an edamame, feta, sundried tomato salad that everyone was raving about and had a s'more.  Sigh.  I'm actually least upset about the s'more.  It was the first s'more of the season, made by my hubby (who knows his s'mores!) over a campfire.  Totally worth it.  I just wish I'd not eaten too much dinner or picked at the other party food.  So, yesterday off-roading: soy, dairy, wheat, corn (corn syrup in marshmallows), and who knows what else.  And because I was already kind of gassy, I have no idea if I reacted to any of those foods.  I ate a good breakfast this morning, but still feel too full from overeating last night.  Lesson I'd like to sink in someday is that when my tummy is "active" don't keep feeding it!

Oh golly, I always feel the need to feed an "active" tummy too.  Kinda like thinking that chocolate will really help an afternoon slump when what really helps is a walk around the block or taking a bit of quiet time if it's the weekend.

I still love smore's.  It's a campy feel good food.  :)

Bravo on starting your day out with a good breakfast.  That always helps me stay focused for the day.

Had lunch out and chose a chicken wrap, so wheat today.  Just noting in case I need to look back to see what caused what.  :)  Planning on wheat this weekend anyway with Logan's Cinnamon Bread at the cabin, so figured it was a better choice than everything else on the menu.

Husband brought home those sugar coated nuts again.  I ate them.  At least it's just once a month and I love them too much to tell him to stop.   Interestingly, I noticed that my face got flushed and red, my belly got bloated and a little unhappy and I got a headache.  I'm guessing it was the sugar bomb but it could have been the overdose of cashews, too.

We're off to the cabin for the weekend.  I will eat wheat in the form of the cinnamon bread named after my son.  Other than that, I will stick to the template and W30 foods.  The cabin is usually a bad food weekend for me - lots of treats and lots of time to graze.  I am determined not to do that this year.  Three meals, protein/fat/veg, that will be what I eat.  And cinnamon bread.  I need to think of it as an experiment.  If I dive into a bunch of junk, I won't know if the wheat affects me at all.  Wish me luck and will power!

Happy Monday.  I did ok over the weekend.  Not great.  I ate too much.  Too much almond butter, too much bread, too many plantain chips, too much period.  But, it was better than it has been in the past when cabin weekends are a free for all sugar fest, so I guess I'll call it a win.

I don't think the bread affected me other than that it doesn't keep me full very long.  I LOVE the warm piece of toasted cinnamon bread with almond butter and homemade jam on a cold cabin morning. It's a good once in a while cabin treat.  Luckily, the woman who makes it is 2 hours away from my house. :)  We always stop to get a loaf or two on our way to the cabin and usually buy a bunch of loaves to freeze at the end of the summer for French Toast over the winter.  I love supporting local food producers, especially one who named her bread after my son!  And he gets such a kick out of stoping at the cafe and ordering Logan's Cinnamon Bread.  The farmer's market is in the parking lot of the cafe. Slim pickings so far this spring.  We bought some jam, but the only produce was rhubarb and some lettuce.  I can't wait until the farmer's markets really get going.

I also managed one run/walk at the cabin and a couple 1/2 hr or so yoga sessions.  And I read a book and a half and got to watch some Food Network.  We don't have cable at home, so my treat at the cabin is to watch the Food Network when the boys are out fishing in the evening.  Great weekend overall.

I need to get back to basics this week.  Next weekend will be worse.  We have an out of town soccer tournament and I'm not sure how much control over my food I will have.

Goals for the week:

Back to basics with template/foods

Limit anybutters

make food plan for the tournament weekend

sweat at least 3 times

Good day yesterday.  I ate the template and got in a workout.  Finished watching season 3 of Downton Abbey with husband - bad bad ending!  I weighed and am up 2 lbs.  I'm guessing it's just water weight from overeating and wheat on the weekend and it will be gone within a couple days.  Still, I have 5 lbs after that to lose.  I've been stalled out there since the first week in June.  I don't want to stress over it, but I would still like to lose it.  I need to watch the anybutters, obviously, and probably cut back a little on the starchy veg - 1/2 a bigger sweet potato instead of the whole thing, 1 plantain tostada instead of 2.  Little tweaks.  Oh, and stop licking the sunbutter knife after making my son's lunch!  :)

I'm really envying your cabin. I gotta say. I follow this Tumblr called cabinporn, well I did when I was following Tumblr. I really really would love that kind of escape. It's so hard to get past those associations of place/food. Went through that this weekend at the MIL's. Celebrate small victories. That bread sounds amazing!

Your weekend sounds amazing. I love that you watched food network. How fun. It great that you got to off road a bit and hop right back on your template.

I too would love to drop 5 pounds. My pants are getting loose in the tush and upper thighs but I have a feeling I'm eating to maintenance. I like your littler"tweak" ideas.
