epplejai
Just discovered Applegate meats and I thought they were compliant but after combing the forum, I'm not so sure. They contain carrageenan (from seaweed). Is that allowed?
Moderators ShannonM816 Posted November 4, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 4, 2014 No, carrageenan is never allowed, per the rules. Some Applegate things are compliant, some are not -- you have to read the labels, every time, for every product. Last time I found it, their roast beef was compliant -- but it's hard to find, and again, check your labels if you do find it, because companies can change their formulations, and they can vary from region to region as well. epplejai
Thank you. Just did a bit more research on the additive and will definitely be returning these meats and avoiding even after we are done with the whole30. Thanks!
praxisproject
Carrageenan makes my insides very very unhappy. It's usually added for texture, so let manufacturers know you don't like it.
Hbombdiggity71
Carrageenan is in almost all greek yogurts. At least it was in all the labels I read. I won't buy anything with that nasty stuff in it.

Mary Carmosino Beougher
I've found the Applegate you have to have sliced in the deli doesn't have carrageenan in it, just the prepackaged stuff. Of course, the only one I've found with no sugar is the roast beef. It's good for quick lunches or to give to my mini me.
MeadowLily
FAGE ('fa-yeh') is good after a Whole 30. I used to eat it but not so much anymore. Not at all, really.
